Updated point standings will be posted on this website weekly following the weekend’s race events. The 2008 points will be calculated as follows:
1. A driver will earn show up points based on the number of cars competing in the event. The show up points will be as follows:
a. 1-10 cars. No show up points.
b. 11-15 cars. 4 show up points.
c. 16 – 24 cars. 8 show up points.
d. 25+ cars. 12 show up points.
2. For each heat, the winning driver will receive 10 points, 9 for second, 8 for third, and so on. The minimum points for competing in a heat will be two (2).
3. No points will be awarded for B or C mains.
4. For the A main, the winning driver will receive 40 points. Second will receive 38 points, third will receive 36 points, and each remaining spot will receive one point less per position.
5. For national point standings, DTRA will have its own version of “The Chase”. This format combined with a structure that allows a driver to successfully compete by only running his home track will make the points chase very exciting with many drivers competing. The details are as follows:
a. National points will take only a driver's top 10 shows prior to July 31st; all other shows are thrown out. As of August 1st, the top 10 spots will be re-set so there is no more than 5 points separating each position and the drivers in the top 10 will receive 200 bonus points.
b. Between August 1st and September 15th, we will take a driver’s best 5 shows to determine the final standings for spots 1-10 and 11th on back.
